The challenge

A growing accountancy practice in Eccles, Manchester, competing with every other firm in the city for the same searches. The old site gave Google very little to work with: key pages were rendered in the browser, so search engines saw almost no text on them, and nothing on the site said why this practice rather than the one round the corner.

The strategy

The site was rebuilt so every page is served as real HTML, fast on a phone and readable by search engines. Service pages were organised around the clients the practice actually serves, and a contact route was added that asks only what changes how an enquiry is handled.

Blog content was planned around HMRC deadlines rather than published in the week they fall. Google Ads was set up against phone calls and enquiry forms rather than clicks, with the search terms reviewed every week and the budget moved to whatever was producing enquiries.

The results

In the three months to 6 October 2026 the practice appeared in Google search 4,780 times, against 350 in the three months before, and the homepage now sits at an average position of 3.1. These are early figures from Search Console, and the comparison is with the period immediately before.

Tested with Google PageSpeed Insights on 8 October 2026, the mobile homepage scores 93 for performance, 100 for accessibility, 96 for best practices and 100 for SEO.
